Because the home is 1,176 square feet, the 59’ x 100’ lot at this home near the Boys and Girls Club seems very small. This home has four bedrooms. It features Homecrest cabinets in a good-sized kitchen and Andersen windows. As you can see from one of the photos, the home rests on a vented crawlspace. There is no air conditioning but that could be easily rectified with a couple air conditioning units. The price is the next to lowest of all the houses I have toured but the neighborhood’s a bit rundown. The home has been vacant for at least six months. Apparently, it was not cared for very well. The flooring is filthy, the cabinet doors stick, there’s a mushy spot in the bathroom, the glass is broken in a kitchen window and all the screens need replacing. The home was built in 1989 by Habitat for Humanity. Most of the interior is in good shape. It just needs cleaning.
I’m looking at one more house on the north side Thursday. After that viewing, I hope to be ready to make an offer on a house. Currently, I’m leaning towards the house between the high school and the fairgrounds. It is ready to move in with repair on the carport needed by winter. A new carport would allow me to move the main entrance from the kitchen. The door is too close to the kitchen countertop.
I’ve driven by the property I will view Thursday. It has a nice backyard but the narrow property would require streetside parking. The lot is very narrow but the home is a little larger than all but the home I looked at yesterday. The search is winding down. I’m excited. The final outcome awaits.
