HOWE (Sat., Feb. 3, 2007) – With his team leading by a mere point (34-33), Joel K. scored all nine of his points in a fourth-quarter surge that propelled the Couriers over Howe Military 64-46.
Largely due to a 30-point showing by the Wildcats Greg S., the Couriers were unable to tame the hosts for the first three quarters. The Wildcats pulled within five (22-17) in the second quarter before the Couriers scored the next four to lead by nine at halftime. The Wildcats had whittled the deficit down to five at 34-29 at the third-quarter break and further cut the margin to one before Joel’s three-point bombs. Caleb M. added a field goal during an 11-0 burst that helped the Couriers open up a 45-33 lead. As the lead continued to grow, coach Chad Schrock was able to find playing time for all ten Couriers.
Carl M. paced the winners with 15 points. Todd M. contributed 11 and Caleb M. 8. No other Wildcat joined Greg S. in double figures. After leading the Wildcats with 18 in a January 6 loss to the Couriers, senior Josh P. could only find the range for six points this time as the Wildcats dropped to 3-12.
The Couriers (11-3), winners of six straight, travel to Covenant Christian in DeMotte Saturday.
