FORT WAYNE (Dec. 9, 2006) - The Clinton Christian Couriers made a single-game record 20-of-20 free throws to nip Adams Central, a class 2A school, 62-61 for the Canterbury Invitational title Saturday morning.The Couriers led the entire game until Brandon K.’s first field of the goal gave them a 34-32 lead. Neither team was able to put the game away until the Couriers scored eight straight points at the line to end the contest. The Couriers and the Flying Jets combined for 11 ties and seven lead changes during the game.
Todd M. scored over 20 points for the fourth straight game, finishing with a game-high 26. He was 10-of-10 at the foul stripe. Junior teammates Carl M. and Caleb M. added 12 apiece for the Couriers.
FORT WAYNE (Dec. 8, 2006) - Friday night, the Couriers built 16-point leads at 32-16 and 34-18 in the second quarter before trimming host Canterbury 68-64.
Canterbury pulled within three at 67-64 with :02 remaining. Mike T. hit one of two free throws to ice the game in the first annual Canterbury Invitational.
Caleb M.’s 21 points led the Couriers. Todd M. dropped in 20 and Carl M. 10.
Following the two victories over first-time opponents, the Couriers (3-1) host longtime foe Portage Christian Friday night. The game will be played at Heritage Middle School in Middlebury.
