Sing a song. There's music in the air.

I have enjoyed singing as long as I can remember. A singing highlight in my life stems back to eighth grade. In our school’s junior high Christmas musical, I was the main character. I sang a solo, quite an achievement for a mostly shy and insecure young boy. In the midst of four years of high school choir, I had the privilege to sing and tour with an eight-person ensemble composed of upperclassmen. That was probably the biggest musical challenge I have undertaken. It taught me to believe in myself and stop relying on others for the right pitch.

After a short stint in chorus at Rosedale Bible Institute (now RBC), I have “retired” from choral participation. These days, I revel in the opportunities to sing a part in the singing time at church. Having grown up singing four-part harmony, I hate to sing melody with the majority of the congregation. While I sang bass in high school, I have enjoyed learning to sing my natural part in the baritone/low tenor range. I enjoy adding some harmony to the mix as I focus on worshiping the Creator.
Rosedale Bible College provides many opportunities for individuals to appreciate and participate in music. Last July, I helped out at Choral Camp, a music appreciation and camp experience at RBC for ages 8-14. I do not play any instruments but the camper in the picture is a very good violinist. She performed with a string ensemble in a program for the parents on the final day of camp. Thank you God for music!
