Bob goes to a better place

Derek and I said our goodbyes to Bob today. We didn't know him very long but he got quite the send-off. I said a few words and Derek sang the national anthem and gave a gun salute. Amazingly, no tears were shed and we were able to move on with our lives. Why was it so easy? Well, you see, Bob is a worm. After making his Biosphere closed-system presentation in Science, he needed to release the worm back into the earth. As the bus driver told me strongly, worms are NOT allowed on the bus. Okay, but it still makes me laugh to think about Derek shedding some fake tears, singing the Star Spangled Banner and giving a gun salute for a worm that is living a better life outside the Rubbermaid container.
