Do the titles Blueberries for Sal, Mike Mulligan and the Steam Shovel, The Cat in the Hat and Where the Wild Things Are? bring back pleasant memories. These are probably picture books that you read or looked at as a child. Now, imagine that you are 32 years old and forced to do a project on picture books. You don't have to imagine. I am that 32 year old.
As part of Children's Literature class, I needed to give a presentation on 3 picture books that share a common theme. I think I am going to pick picture books by authors I remember as a child. However, I want to investigate some of their books that I have never read like Katy and the Big Snow by Virginia Burton, the author of Mike Mulligan.
I'm looking forward to this project because it will also help me discover some of the top picture books out there for young children and beginning readers. I might say more once I whittle the stack down to three and decide on my theme.
