Grandparents' stories highlight Christmas program

I enjoyed a rather unique Christmas program this morning. A number of the children shared from interviews with their grandparents or elderly members of our church. We heard from one grandfather that he had to listen to music or books for fun. Now, it's hard to imagine life without iPods, computers, TVs, video game systems, and more. Another grandmother said she lived across from Will Rogers and she would go to his house every Saturday for square dancing.

A two-year-old and her parents helped lead us in "Happy Birthday, Jesus." Of course, she and a few of the other little ones had to be the cute animals in the stable. One of the shepherds told his complaining compatriot, "Quit your bellyaching!"

Following the great Christmas program, we retired to the fellowship hall for four types of soup, homemade bread with Amish peanut butter and strawberry jam, salad and cake. It was simple but a nice finish to a special day.
