Advent is underway and my church is celebrating how we relate to the Advent. Today's focus was I Do. Other Sundays will include I Praise, I Bless, and others. I participated in a skit today about Zechariah's encounter with the angel of the Lord. Thankfully, as Zechariah, I only had one line or it could have been tough. My line was a sarcastic response to the angel's message that my wife and I would have a son: "Seriously. How am I to know this will happen? I mean, I'm old and my wife's old...she's no spring chicken." We were making the point that there are no obstacles that can keep God from accomplishing His purpose. Oh, and no, they did not have to pull me out with the rope although I was securely tethered.
In other news, I went to an extended family gathering today. As the only grandchild there, I was the designated photographer for the above photo of my grandparents, their children and spouses.
