Yes, it is true. I enjoyed my first jaunt on a sailboat yesterday. My friend Tony's parents live on Lake Wawasee, about 20 minutes from my house. He invited me and about a few other friends for a picnic, volleyball and some time on the lake.
While Tony took three others on his brother's pontoon. I joined Alan, Tony, Luci (an exchange student from Brazil), and Natasha (an exchange student from Serbia) on Tony's father Jerry's sailboat. He says it is a sloop for those of you who know anything about sailboats. I really enjoyed it but it kept him busy.
Don't try to operate a sailboat without learning how first. There were times when we listed pretty low in the water. I was probably a little more leery when this happened since I never learned how to swim well.
In all, it was a nice, refreshing break before I had to return to my studies. I think I have a better understanding now why some people choose a life on the water. When the weather is great, you feel carefree and connected with nature. What would we do if God had not created water to give us a break for the boundaries of land?
Again, I did not bring my camera so will have to imagine the masts filling up, Jerry operating the homemade wooden rudder, and the rest of us looking out over Lake Wawasee and the many fancy, outrageous, and always expensive homes and condominiums.
