It was a good first day on the job at Goshen Middle School. The student I am assigned has a good sense of humor and I think we're going to get along well. I feel like I have a good group of students to work with overall. The special ed. teachers have been great and one of the teachers I'm helping may let me help teach some of the content. I would enjoy getting more teaching experience even before I do my student teaching in a couple years.
While everything looks great right now, I'm trying to remember that these are middle school students and things can get crazy. Once I go back to school in a couple weeks, it will be a greater challenge to balance the job and my schooling. Well, I'd rather be busy than stuck in a factory working only three to four days a week like so many area laborers right now.
I'm thankful for my previous experience with middle schoolers but I look forward to comments if you have experience with this age or teaching in general.
