I want to take this opportunity to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and joyous New Year! You are all very precious to me whether friend or family. I thank God for all his blessings that truly go beyond everything I ever could imagine.
Since I cannot possibly include all my endeavors in this blog, I hope to fill you in some of the key points of 2007 in the following outline.
January
* I continue to enjoy serving as a junior youth leader and 56ers (fifth and sixth grade boys) teacher at Maple City Chapel.
February
* My favorite NFL team, the Indianapolis Colts, beat the area’s “other” team, the Chicago Bears, in Super Bowl 41. (Sorry, Bears fans.)
March
* Help build wooden privacy fence while others build deck, porch railing and decorative sidewalk on mission trip in Pascagoula, Mississippi with SALT, the singles group from Maple City Chapel.
April
* Join Maple City Chapel youth for concerts, speakers and drama at Acquire the Fire’s Battle Cry youth conference in Detroit, Michigan.
May
* Attend groundbreaking for my alma mater Clinton Christian School’s new gymnasium.
* Compile statistics for a 100-inning softball marathon fundraiser. I was there for about 70 innings!
June
* Help staff Miller Brothers homes in two different Parade of Homes.
* Buy my first home and move in just before my 31st birthday on the 27th.
* Privileged to be a groomsman in my friend Jason’s wedding in Wisconsin.
* I enjoy another week as “Uncle Benj” with my two nieces from Ohio staying at my parents’ home.
July
* Return for a very fun second year as a camp counselor at Choral Camp at Rosedale Bible College in Ohio.
* Work almost every day of the Elkhart County 4-H Fair at the Miller Brothers’ display home.
August
* After three fun-filled years as a youth leader at Maple City Chapel, I decide to step down from that role.
* Add statistician to my announcing duties for Clinton Christian volleyball and basketball.
September
* Work a couple days at the Kosciusko County Parade of Homes.
October
* I begin attending Beta, a small group of Tri Lakes Community Church near Bristol, Indiana.
November
* I start attending Tri Lakes with the intent to make a full transition when I complete 56ers teaching responsibilities at Maple City Chapel in February ’08.
* My dad and I begin the lengthy task of converting Miller Brothers Builders’ estimating from spreadsheets to MasterBuilder, an estimating and accounting program.
December
* Clinton Christian’s JV and varsity boys basketball teams win their final neutral-site home games.
* My sister Deb plans to help me paint my bedrooms while she’s here for the holidays.
On the horizon for 2008
January
* I get to announce Clinton’s first true home games.
* I will meet with an advisor at Indiana University South Bend (IUSB) about entering the Transition to Teaching (T2T) program, an 18-month certification program for working professionals.
March
* I will become the chief estimator for Miller Brothers when MasterBuilder “goes live.”
* Plan to begin serving as a youth group leader and possibly worship team member at Tri Lakes Community Church.
May/June
* The earliest date that I may begin taking prerequisites to qualify for T2T at IUSB.
