All Christians need to find key places to fellowship with other Christians and use their gifts. The church is the primary place for doing that for most Christians including myself. My home church, Maple City Chapel (http://maplecitychapel.com/), has been blessed by God in so many ways. In the eight years I have attended there, I have seen us grow from about 200-250 on Sunday morning to 713 a couple weeks ago. Many of those people have joined since the church moved into a former Wal-Mart/movie theater. The move to that building involved a miracle in that Wal-Mart sold it to us for less than half the initial offer.
While buildings allow for growth in quantity, I have enjoyed meeting and relating to many quality individuals at Maple City. In my current journey, God has brought me from leadership in our singles group to a current leadership role with the junior high youth. Recently, I accepted a once-a-month trial run as the teacher of the 5th & 6th grades boys Sunday School class. Before I began helping the youth, I wanted to help in children’s church. In God’s great timing, I am now getting that opportunity.
In the last few years, it has become more difficult to be involved in a Bible study due to my involvement with the youth. Once a month, I attend SALT (singles group) for spiritual food and fellowship with peers. Our area has also been blessed with a young adults church on Saturday night called Downtown@8:08. I go there as much as possible but I am evaluating possibilities for more Bible study and growth opportunities while continuing to serve in other areas of the church. I encourage anyone who reads this to be active in your church. If you are like me, it makes your church a more exciting and fulfilling part of your life.
