It sure is a strange-looking fruit but I like it.
It’s yellow, about the size of a mushball or 16-inch softball (Chicagoans know what this is) and tastes like a grapefruit. What is it? It’s a pummelo.
I saw a pummelo, or pomelo, at the grocery store for the first time this week. I gave in to my curiosity. According to Wikipedia, the fruit is very popular is China but holds limited interest in the United States.
I don’t usually like grapefruit but this large, fleshy fruit is sweeter than a grapefruit but it takes a few minutes to cut and section it. Apparently, the tangelo is a hybrid of a tangerine and a pummelo. Try it for yourself or read more about the Chinese grapefruit, jabong, boongon, shaddock, jeruk Bali, or suha – other names for the fruit – at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pomelo.

We tried one once. We thought it was much more impressive looking than tasting. I think we'd prefer a grapefruit or an orange. It's fun to try new stuff, though.
