Well, Notre Dame still hasn't won a bowl game since 1994. Their team's average GPA this year is 3.041. Maybe they're too smart to be a good football team. It may not help that the school does not redshirt freshman. Only medical redshirts are allowed. While most freshmen get to practice and adjust to college for a year, Notre Dame's freshmen are thrown right into the mix. Is it too soon? What is the answer? It's frustrating to beat all the nobodies every year and look like pansies against top-notch teams. I think it would really help if Notre Dame played in a conference. They would play tough competition almost every week with maybe two or three easy teams to start the year. I know it goes against tradition but it's time to drop the academies (Air Force, Army, Navy) and replace them top-tier teams such as Florida, Florida State, Boise State (surprise! surprise!) and Texas.
