Couriers dump Grace for fourth straight

WATERVLIET, MICH. (Sat., January 20, 2007) – Todd M.’s five three-pointers and 23 points paced the Couriers over Grace Christian 56-46.

Playing without leading scorer Lincoln F. (22.8 ppg), the host Patriots (8-3) trailed just 13-10 after one period. Todd M. dropped in 11 points in the second quarter and seven more in the third as the Couriers built a 45-31 advantage. Gemel P.’s two free throws cut the Couriers’ lead to six (52-46) with 29 seconds to go in the game. Mike T. and Todd M. then hit four-of-four at the foul stripe to close out the Couriers’ fourth-straight win.

Carl M. and Mike T. added eight points each for the Couriers (9-3). Nate P. led the Patriots with 19. Zach E. dropped in 14 and Gemel P. 12 as the hosts saw a five-game winning streak end. The 46-point output was the lowest this season for the Patriots who came in averaging almost 64 points a contest.

The Couriers try to add to their record 15-game winning streak at home when they host Lakeland Christian of Winona Lake Friday. The current streak started with a win over now-defunct Frankfort Christian January 24, 2004 at Woodview Elementary in Nappanee.
