Couriers recover, roll to third straight victory

MIDDLEBURY (Fri., Dec. 15, 2006) – All ten players scored as the Couriers zipped past the Portage Christian Pacers 75-33 in Clinton’s home opener.

Early in the contest, the Couriers looked like they might be in for a battle. Portage Christian’s 6’4” senior center Nick B. scored six points and the Pacers led 12-11 late in the opening quarter. The Couriers then reeled off 14 straight points for a 25-12 lead going into a Portage Christian timeout with 5:59 remaining in the second quarter.

The Couriers never trailed again to improve their record to 4-1. Caleb M.’s 14 led four Couriers in double digits. Carl M. added 12 while Todd M. and Mike T. posted 10 each. Nick B. tallied 18 for the visitors but no other Pacer contributed more than four points.

After a two-week break, the Couriers will play in the Cougar Classic at Lakeland Christian Academy in Winona Lake December 29 and 30. The four-team, round-robin event includes one game each versus the hosts, Trinity of South Bend and the Huntington Home School Eagles. The Trinity game could provide a preview of a possible Indiana Christian Schools (ICSTS) regional matchup in March.
